All pieces are made from locally harvested and locally milled ash lumber and are finished in bright solid colors or natural stains. These high-quality finishes stand up to outdoor use but are also suitable for indoor use.
About Richard Ducharme

Richard Ducharme has lived on the same land in Cabot, Vermont, his entire life. His deep connection to the land and the region’s forests has shaped a varied career, with sustainable timber harvesting and woodworking remaining constant pursuits. Together with his wife Sandy, he worked the land for 54 years, during which they operated Hillcrest Nursery.
During Vermont’s long winters, Richard began refining the design of his celebrated Adirondack chairs and selling them at the nursery each growing season. After the nursery closed, he founded Hillcrest Chairs. Over the decades, his chairs have traveled across the United States and into Canada, gracing lakefronts and homes throughout the countryside.
Richard personally sources ash from the surrounding hillsides, has the logs milled by neighbors, and spends his winters crafting and hand-painting each chair. His respect for the land, his care for animals, his commitment to community, and love of people from varied places are reflected in every interaction he has.
